Saving the planet won't be easy -- and it's certainly not something you can do alone. That's why I need your help -- and that's why I've joined teamearth.com. We all know that our planet is at a critical juncture: and humanity needs a healthy planet to survive.
From December 7-18, leaders and representatives from across the planet will be working hard to agree on an effective plan to slow climate change and help communities, societies and species adapt. But the work cannot be left up to world leaders alone.
At Team Earth we believe there is a place for everyone on the team that will guide us into tomorrow, and that each action makes a difference. Though many of us won’t be able to travel to Copenhagen, there is still so much we can do from home.
Check out the many ways you can play an important role by visiting some of our partner sites:
In September, Fisk Johnson, Chairman and CEO of SC Johnson, stood in front of the crowd at CI’s Team Earth launch event in New York City and announced SC Johnson’s role as a founding partner of Team Earth. This week, his business launched a new initiative that embodies the spirit of Team Earth: environmentally-minded, innovative, and above all, reliant on you for success.
Team Earth’s first focus is to fight climate change by saving the world’s forests. Every year, we lose 32 million acres of tropical forests – an area the size of England. With every acre lost, we also lose essential resources for people and the planet.
So what can you do about it? We know that many families around the world are helping the planet by making a difference in their own homes, whether by recycling, using less energy or many other actions.
Sharing your tips and ideas will help influence the actions of others, and if you share before the end of the month, it will have another benefit as well. For every environmental tip or tactic posted on the “Team Earth Tips” blog, SC Johnson will contribute $1 to Team Earth, up to $25,000. The money raised will go towards future Team Earth campaigns to increase environmental awareness and make changes that will ensure a healthier, more prosperous world for all of us.
As a team, we can help. So share your tips by following the link below and clicking “Post a Comment.” We look forward to hearing from you!
On September 30th, Team Earth is answering the SOS from Sting and The Prince’s Rainforests Project (PRP) to send the world’s biggest SOS on behalf of the rainforests.

This December, world leaders will meet in Copenhagen for important negotiations on climate change. By adding your name to our first challenge of saving forests, Team Earth can send a loud SOS to those in power that the world’s citizens demand its protection.
This level of support for PRP reflects a growing understanding that rainforests are critical for our survival as they regulate rainfall, preserve biodiversity and, most importantly, store vast amounts of carbon.
The future of the rainforests is our future.
If you have not already, please join Team Earth, support of our first challenge to save forests and help send our collective SOS on behalf of the rainforests today!
NEVER in human history have so many nations and so many people come together in the shared belief that action is needed on a singular issue — climate change.
Isolated reservoirs of resistance do remain, but the public call for action is greater by far.
That’s why climate change is the first order of business for Team Earth.
We’ve been talking for years about the importance of individual responsibility and individual action. But individual action, whether due to an issue-by-issue approach, or the fact that many different groups have undertaken separate activities, has failed to achieve critical mass on the big picture: that the world is losing its ability to provide for our needs.
We have not motivated the broader public to engage on climate change or water shortages or the loss of tropical forests. We have had many small victories, but nothing on the scale we need.
The announcement of Team Earth puts forth a new platform designed to UNIFY those efforts in a joint, incredibly powerful commitment on the biggest global issues we face:
1. Climate change 2. Water (both fresh water and our oceans) 3. Food 4. Health 5. The need for humanity to consume less
These things are all interrelated, and they affect every single person on the planet – all 6.94 billion of us –and will determine the long-term health of every person, family, company, and government on Earth.
As Secretary General Ban Ki Moon said: “No issue is more fundamental to long-term global prosperity. And no issue is more essential to our survival as a species.”
Team Earth partners are a powerful example of the kind of leadership and cross-sector collaboration the Secretary General is calling for – we have corporate and non-profit leaders, educators, and heads of state.
That’s what Team Earth is about—rallying collective action at SCALE to address these enormously complex issues.
Saving the planet won't be easy -- and it's certainly not something you can do alone. That's why I need your help -- and that's why I've joined teamearth.com.
We all know that our planet is at a critical juncture: and humanity needs a healthy planet to survive.
The facts could not be more clear: The burning and clearing of tropical forests puts more carbon into the atmosphere than the entire world’s cars, trucks, planes, trains, and ships combined. When our forests disappear, temperatures rise. Luckily, there is an immediate solution that requires only political will: save the forests that provide so many benefits for us all.
That’s why Team Earth is issuing an urgent, immediate challenge by teaming up with the Prince’s Rainforest Project to call for swift action and funding to reduce tropical deforestation -- and create incentives for a new approach to environmentally friendly economic development.
To succeed, we will need the support of the governments and communities of rainforest nations, meaningful involvement from private investors and the governments of major developed countries -- and the citizens who can force them to act.
That's where you come in.
By signing up you can join the chorus calling for urgent action to fight climate change by addressing rainforest destruction -- and help assure that we can gain the support of the many partners needed to win this fight.
It’s that easy. Just join Team Earth and we’ll help you do your part.
We’ve done great things before, and now is the time for us to do them once more. Are you in?
